- What is Slowly & Surely?
Slowly & Surelyis a newly patented fat loss supplement that was shown clinically to greatly enhance fat loss compared to a placebo. Slowly & Surely is composed of plant extracts (soluble polysaccharides) combined with esterified fatty acids (EFAs) as found in our EFAC products.
- How does Slowly & Surely work?
The plant extracts in Slowly & Surely have been patented and clinically shown to decrease both fat and leptin levels. Leptin has a number of health affects. Leptin serves as a regulator of body fat storage through the central nervous system by modulating satiation (sense of fullness), appetite, gylcemic control and metabolism (Bell-Anderson & Bryson, 2004). A number of anecdotal reports of Slowly & Surely decreasing sugar cravings have been received, which makes sense when one considers how leptin functions in the body.
Inflammation has many affects on the body. In terms of weight loss, inflamed tissues and/or joints can potentially slow one down and keep one from being active. The natural anti-inflammatory EFAs that are in Slowly & Surely are added to better enable people to remain active, as presumably an active person will burn more calories and ultimately be more successful at weight management.
- What is the dosage?
The recommended dose is 2 caps twice per day or 4 caps in total. Ideally one of the dosages should be in the evening. To get a jump start many people take 3 or 4 capsules twice daily.
- How long until I see results?
Slowly & Surely has been shown to enhance your efforts. Therefore how fast it works largely depends on your efforts. If you are performing aerobic exercise regularly you can expect better and faster results, which occurred quite impressively in the 8 week clinical trial. Slowly & Surely has not been tested without increased physical activity. Judging by anecdotal reports in which people’s level of physical activity did not change, we believe again that Slowly & Surely will likely help to increase fat loss and reduce food cravings, but that it will take a number of months to start to do so. In addition, our feedback to date has been that the impact of Slowly & Surely is greater when taken consistently. Our feedback regarding inconsistent use (for example, take it for a few weeks and then stop and restart a few weeks later etc) has been that the reduction of weight and regulation of sugar cravings takes a very long time. We feel that long-term Slowly & Surely helps insure that you get the most out of your efforts, but as a short-term solution it has limited use.
- What do you mean by the phrase: “Enhances Fat Loss?”
Slowly & Surely is specifically patented to increase fat loss. In the clinical trial the Slowly & Surely group lost not only 70% more total weight, but more importantly the Slowly & Surely group lost 91% more body fat. In other words Slowly & Surely targeted fat loss, as opposed to general weight loss, which consists of muscle, fat and water loss.
- Why fat loss, versus simply losing weight?
In terms of water weight, unless you are specifically retaining fluid, as happens for some women premenstrually, for those with heart failure (due to sodium retention) or other specific conditions etc, water loss will be temporary because the body typically monitors and regulates our fluid levels very closely.
When it comes to muscle loss, as happens with very low calorie diets, our metabolism is lowered. This is because our muscles use a lot of energy and therefore when you lose muscle, you then require fewer calories to function or in other words your metabolic rate is reduced. This is precisely the risk of very low calorie diets, as the body burns muscle tissue to make up for the deficit in calories consumed. In essence our body uses our muscles for food. A lowered metabolism makes effective long-term weight management more difficult. Regretfully, repeated crash dieting with very low calories being consumed, is believed to result in the up and down or “Yo-Yo” diets, which tend to cause weight to increase over time.
On the other hand fat loss can increase our metabolism. This is because our metabolism is determined by the usage of energy by the various body tissues. Fat and muscle are the two prime tissues upon which our metabolism is based, and therefore our metabolism is largely determined by a ratio of these two tissues. The greatest positive impact on metabolism occurs when we lose fat and at the same time build muscle by exercising. For continued long-term success of weight management the key therefore becomes fat loss and the avoidance of muscle loss.
- Are there other benefits of using Slowly & Surely in addition to enhanced fat loss?
Yes, in the clinical trials the participant’s insulin levels were also reduced. Healthy insulin levels are very important today, especially with the escalating level of diabetes. And with the same EFAs in the formula (as found in our EFAC) there is potentially a wide range of beneficial health affects.
- Is Slowly & Surely safe?
The plant extracts used have a United States government GRAS rating. GRAS stands for Generally Regarded As Safe. This is your best measure of safety. As for the EFAs in the formula, there have been 100s of millions of the capsules consumed without any side effects reported.
